Crunchy Panko Fried Fish Fillet Sandwich

Updated: Apr 14

This quick and easy Panko fried fish fillet sandwich is a delicious way to enjoy crispy and tender fish. Ready in less than 30 minutes!

The recipe below is based on 2 servings.

Ingredients to Fry the Fish Fillets

  1. 2 pieces of thawed filleted fish

  2. 1/4 cup of vegetable oil

  3. 1/2 cup Original Panko crispy breadcrumbs

  4. 1/2 cup Original Breadcrumbs

  5. 1 1/2 cup of milk

  6. 2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

Ingredients to Make the Tartar Sauce - Mix all together

  1. 1/2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

  2. 1 cup mayonnaise - I highly recommend Duke's for the exact flavor in the recipe

  3. 1/4 cup Sweet Relish

Instructions

  1. Soak thawed filets in milk for 10 minutes

  2. While filets are soaking get a medium sized skillet heated with vegetable oil (should only take a couple of minutes)

  3. Add Panko breadcrumbs to a medium sized bowl or container

  4. Dip filets one by one in the Panko. Be sure to completely coat the filet. Pressing the breadcrumbs slightly onto the filet.

  5. Add filet one by one to the heated oil and cook 3 - 5 minutes on each side. You want to see a little bit of crisp on the sides. ONLY flip once as to not lose the fried pieces.

  6. Carefully let the filets rest for a few minutes on a paper towel lined plate

  7. Toast your bread to your liking, add tartar sauce and your favorite toppings along with the fish filet and enjoy

A panko fried fish fillet sandwich consists of a juicy white fish fillet of your choice. It's coated with seasoned panko breadcrumbs and fried until golden and crunchy. Then we serve the fish on a soft bun or sandwich bread of your choice. Today, I'm using an Artisan white bread, lightly toasted. Add your choice of toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, cheese, and tartar sauce. See below for the tartar sauce recipe.

This sandwich is a great alternative to the classic burger and can be paired with fries, sweet potato fries, cole slaw or potato salad for a satisfying meal.
